135 to the House

This race began at the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald's House
This was also the first race I ran after having my seizure and very few knew I had ever had one.
We also did fund raising for the valley's Ronald McDonald Houses we ran between.

This photo is all the teams at the beginning of the race.  This is at the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald's location.

This is me finishing my first leg of the race in Wasco area.  I was the first finisher of this leg of the 135 miles, we each had 3 legs of around 5.5 miles.  Then we all ran the last leg of the race.  At this point in time each group of 4 ran then the next group ran, we got way behind doing this so then two groups went at the same time and had two trail cars.  On this leg since it was hot I needed to refill my water but the others since they were cooler I did not anything not on me while running.

This was the ending of the race at the Ronald McDonald House in Madera.

This is all of the teams at the end of the race.  The whole 135 miles took about 1-1/2 days to run.  There was very little sleep on the trip, we were all so tired but happy to be done and memories that will last a life time.

This is what we lived in and how we transported our team and when dogs were chasing the 4 we were watching run and supporting while they ran jumped on board in order to get away from them.

This is me at the end of the race after eating I am now an official BNB or Bad News Bear #234 and can get BNB gear at the time we have money in order to do so.  To become  a BNB you have to run 20 miles and talk with BNB athletes while at the event or before and after the event.  They are only counting runs for 2015 for me because last year I was just finding out about what BNB's are like.

The was the shirt we got along with a metal.  In Bakersfield, they gave us sack with RMH on them but someone took mine I guess since it was not there when I was packing up after the whole thing by Jeff..
Over all this was a fun race and one I would do again in a team.  I only got to go to one meeting before the race and there were 4 I think but so far from them in Auberry instead of Clovis definitely complicated some of the fundraising events they held and much was done in person.  Each team was responsible for raising $1000 for the houses however they felt was the right way to do so.  Our team had a tough time deciding on our name, the one that stuck was The Honey Jars.  It is basically our first names squished together (We had two Alex R & G., Ruth, Rochelle, Rachel, Adolfo, Juan)

Update 10.21.15

It had been a while since I had written in anything on the blog.  The last night of July I had a
seizure at night around 2AM.  Since then, I have not done any races even though I had planned
on more of them.  My drivers license was suspended do to that seizure.  I had paid for more
half marathon that I wanted to run this year but I could not find a ride to it since hubby was
out of town on a fire strike team and no one would give me a ride.
At this point in time, I am on medications to keep seizures away but so far my license is still suspended.  I go to the doctor again in November and will be asking how long it is that he wants me not driving for safety reasons.  I have not had another seizure but could both on medications and not on medications.  I do not want to have another one and how I felt with like after the seizure.  Until the medications, my mind was very confused, the medications have made me feel more like I did before the seizure.  I am not sure how I will be after I get off of the medication.
Right now my runs are extremely slow and short runs.  I am working on that, but at the same time, I am giving my body some rest since I was pushing myself a lot when I did have the seizure.

Soul2Soul summer series #3 6.23.15 - Theme Hawaii Nights

I wanted to run the series but life got in the way, the air quality certainly did not help.
66 Janet Chung 1919 F 3 33:16.12 10:44/M
Those are my results, I was number 66 out of 199.  Not bad I think.
I was in the 3rd division not sure what that meant.
I finished at 33:16.12  which was a 10:44 pace, that is at least 10.something not 13. something.

This is what I got not official, but I like my results more.  I did not take any other photos of this race.  I did not do any more of the series, but this was hot and some fun.

Puppy Run 6.11.15

This was my 2nd virtual race

My finishing times and pace.  I did stop and talk with a neighbor of sorts so that did slow me down
some she just wanted to meet my dog.  Of course he came with me.

The swag for this race was pretty great.  Buddy bear loved it all.

He is my running buddy who almost always runs with me.

This is one of my first races with my Garmin Forerunner 15.  I was still figuring it out how to get
the information out of it.  This is what I was doing at the beginning.  I did not figure it out for quite a while

Pi Day 5K 3.14.15

This was virtual race, my first and I did enjoy it.

I did work to get 3.1 miles, I ran short according to Nike+.  I ran around in my yard.

I bought myself a pie on pi day just because I could at a local store.  This is Huckberry pie that I could buy as a single piece on pi day.

Finished in 40:57 minutes per Nike Running app

Ole - 5 - Que 5.15.15

This is a Cinco De Mayo race that was at Woodward Park

place 40-49        Name               town     Bib#   Age  Overall  Time      Pace
     6               Janet Chung        Auberry  320     42    74         32:52.48 10:36/M
I was 6th place in the women who are 40-49 Not 6th place over all.

This is the shirt for the race

This is my badge and medal for the race
I did enjoy this and met a lot of new people.  This was the first time this race was offered so it needs
some work to make it great but it was a fun race.  I did not drink with this, but the metal
is a bottle opener for those who do.  I find that funny.

Hollywood Half Marathon 4/11/15

The Hollywood Half Marathon was a very tough thing due to what happened the night before the race where we got the van
towed away from where we had parked it when we went to dinner.  Then we used the money that saved for the hotel to pay for the van's
return with all of our stuff for the race.  We slept at a friend of my friends home went to bed around 2AM and got up at around 4AM since
the race began at 6AM and the roads would be closed and we couldn't get to the race.
I was number 1563 and finished in 2:23:10.  I was just so mentally worn out I struggled more than I should have.  Next time I run this
I will drive myself there to run it.  My pace wasn't too bad since I ran it at 11:37 pace.  I was number 2062 of the finishers, my friends I
went with were over 3 hours, so I had to wait for them.  I was so tired I just wanted to leave them but did not drive so that was
not possible.

This was before the race, when I was still awake

They sent me this after the results were in.  At least I did not give up and just walk the whole thing.
