So I ran my first half marathon yesterday.  The official results said I finished in 2 hours, 26 minutes, 37.14 seconds.  That put me at 11:15/mile pace.  These results came out today.  I was the 652 person to finish.  number 61 in my age group which was 40-45.

This was the metal we got for finishing.  I got it engraved.   The front of it is above and the back is below.   At the end they said I finished in 2 hours, 26 minutes and 40.49 seconds.  Then the look at it again and changed my time.
This is the only photo I took while running the course.  It felt like a good reminder to me to keep at it.  I was over the half way point.  I have no clue who was nearby so I did not share the photo.
I took this photo the morning before after I pinned my sweatshirt.   I needed it for over halfway.  I did get out of it by the bottom.  I knew I was a mile from Pine Ridge School but they put in at the location of the first bus stop by my home but about 100 feet away.
It was fun to run but it could have been organized a whole lots better.  All 1000 starters began at the same time.  It was a zoo.  You almost couldn't run due to every time you tried, you tripped someone else or were running into bodies.  I think the first results had us all beginning at 7:30 but the later results used out bar-codes which were on the back of the bibs.  That would explain the difference of the times.  The Start and the finish read our bar-codes.
Today my hip-flexors are sore along with my calves are sore but other wise I am very tired otherwise feeling great.  After the race as I was getting stiff, I walked my dog around 4 miles.  I think that helped me from being too sore.  I also set out to train.  I had been running 10 and 12 miles doing out and backs.  So I was doing downhill and uphill.  I think that was a great way to be ready.   I did walk a couple of times but it was only about 1/2 mile or shorter at a time.  My next race is The Graffiti Run 3/9/14 that is 5K.  I have some fear with that just because they through chalk on you.  With my breathing issues, it scares me some.  I have already paid for that one but now I think I want to run the California Classic which is  3/16/14 but costs $75.  I am not sure I can afford to run that, but I will try to come up with the $$.  That one is another 1/2 marathon.  I am looking for 10K I want to run but nothing seems reasonable to me yet.  I want to run one other 1/2 marathon maybe in August or Sept once I have my speed back up.  I want to be running 10 minute miles on flat lands which I was back in the day before I got hurt.  I just want that back.  I would love a 9 minute mile but I have never gotten that alone.  Maybe I will this year just pushing myself.
